For a brand new Season, with brand new regulations, I was watching the F1 Winter Test in Bahrain closer than I have for a number of years. It was fascinating to think about what might happen over the next few races. That's what inspired me to create a new piece.
After several more digital paintings, I also really wanted to get back into the flow of creating something on canvas by hand and couldn't think of a better opportunity to paint Lewis Hamilton in his Ferrari. If I hadn't painted the car on a corner I would have also included the new rear wing. Sod's law I started painting it before the end of the test when that rear wing featured!
